Kind of busy recently, forgot to post the paintings. My small group runs very well, we paint almost every Monday, here is the study I did a couple weeks ago. 14"x18" oil on canvas, please let me know if you are interested.
Last week's study from my small group. The model's yellow shirt is interesting to me, so I decided to add a warmer light in the background to create a warm tone for the painting. Email me if you are interested in the painting, 11x14, oil on linen.
I started a painting open studio with model on Mondays, 9am to 2pm. I have planned to do this for a long time but didn't get a chance to start... anyway, we finally started! If you are near the SF South bay area and interested in joining me, send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, I will let you know when I have a spot available.
This is a 12"x 16"study I did, I tried to capture the moment when the girl was looking at the bar, please let me know if you are interested in the painting.
As I mentioned in the previous post, I am working on some big paintings. Here is a finished one. I find that my photos are always unable to show the big painting well, so I added a couple details of the painting, hope this will help. Let me know if you are interested in the painting.
Animals are always an interesting subject for me to paint. I like the brush strokes applied on the dog, the spring green shows on her body.
The girl is beautiful, I tried to capture the moment when she put her foot in the water, I can feel her happiness even when her face is in the shadow.
I know that I haven't posted any paintings for a while because I have not painted much recently. This is a painting I started a couple months ago but just finished last week, please email me if you are interested.
I resumed painting models in my studio with my friends and students, so I will have more paintings to share soon.
I feel that over the years I have not spent enough time on my own paintings because of my schedule, and I know that some of my friends and students are very interested in painting with me. I have thought about this for a while and decided to create a small painting group with them since last month.
The group is running well so far, we found a wonderful studio from one of our members, and we have good model for two days every week, everyone feels good so far... I am happy that I can get at least two days to focus on my paintings every week! :)
Here is the first painting I did, and I believe I will be creating more beautiful paintings with the group.
This is a figure study I did a week ago, it was a three day pose.
The warm light around her head and arms and natural light from the window on her leg and body created dramatic colors for the skin tone. I like it! Please email me if you are interested in this painting.
This is a view from Silicon Valley, the place I am living. Please email me if you are interested in this small painting.
I use to paint Plein Air every week with some artist friends, but we stopped a few years ago. I am planning to resume this even because a few of my artist friends are interested, so you may see more of my Plein Air paintings in the future.
If you live around the SF Bay Area, and know some good spots, please feel free to email me, maybe we can paint together.
This is a big painting I did recently based on a small study before. Because of my fragmented time, it's took me a couple months to finish.
I find that demos for my students in Academy of Art has become the main time I touch my brush every week, I have not painted enough these couple years! I will be painting more from now on, even if they're just some small pieces. Although I am more interested in big paintings, I couldn't get continued time for them.
Here is an in-class demo I did last week, very good model and this is the first time I've painted him.
My daughter joined a class one/select soccer team this season, the highest level soccer team in her age group. They had their first tournament of the season last weekend, and my daughter scored the only goal in the overtime of the championship game, helping her team win the championship. I am so proud of her!!
I came from China and live in San Francisco bay area now.
I got my BFA from China, MFA from Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and now I am on the graduate-school faculty at the school.
Please enjoy my blog, and I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions about my painting. I really hope my work can bring you a piece of happiness today.
